Front cover and slipcase covered with gold hot foil printings It is not too long ago that the portrait drawing was auctioned off for a few thousand dollars - as an untitled piece of art from the 19th century. Lightning struck when Leonardo expert Martin Kemp attributed La Bella Principessa to Leonardo da Vinci, which resulted in an outrageous hike in value and shook up the entire art world. Based upon this Leonardo portrait of Bianca Sforza on the occassion of her wedding to Galeazzo Sanseverino, drawn in 1496, the book La Bella Svelata enters the world of Renaissance Courts and their most prestigious figures who had enlivened them.
Clothing, hairstyles and cosmetics are formidable keys to fully access this world. The tools of seduction implemented by the feminine universe, the language "spoken" by dresses and by the Courts' symbols of power and authority, are here invariably combined in an all-female way.
